Our Insider’s Guide on Things to Do in Sydney
Sydney is an outdoor stage that comes alive in the sun. Yachts multiply on the harbor, joggers emerge along coastal paths, families throw down towels to settle on the beach or in the park, couples dine alfresco as wine bottles chill in ice buckets, and friends gather in beer gardens to laugh, drink and repeat until sunset. The things to do in Sydney simply multiply when the weather is at its best.
Now, more than ever, we do nearly everything outside. That’s where life looks good, feels good and smells good. The salty tickle of ocean spray on the sea breeze, the scent of eucalyptus trees and jacarandas bursting into purple blooms along suburban streets.
The sky and the light of Australia’s big sky seem different, more dazzling.
The sun is harsher, too. That’s why we’re sitting in the shade, under umbrellas. We’re wearing designer sunglasses and wide-brimmed hats. (If you travel to Australia, keep in mind that Aussies can spot a tourist by the baseball cap.)
Locals wait for what is known as a “southerly change,” a gust of strong, cooling wind that drops the temperature dramatically at the end of every day.

World Cruise Guide
Updated October 25, 2025
Demand for World Cruises is high and there are more to choose from than ever. Cruise lines are announcing new deployments earlier and earlier to meet the demand. There is so much to consider when choosing the right itinerary and ship. Booking early will reward you with the benefits of getting your preferred location and the best value. We have put together a World Cruise Guide to help get the conversation started. But don’t do this alone. Your Travel of America Travel Advisor in your partner in World Cruise selection and planning.
Most world cruises have options to embark or disembark in different ports creating a variety of itineraries, cruise lengths and departure dates. We have listed one option for each ship so keep in mind that segments may be available. Some cruises on our list are not a true circumnavigation world cruise, but we have elected to include them when they are 90 nights or longer. Sold out sailings have been removed from this list so only cruises with available rooms are listed (as of October 2024). Let’s get started!

Oceania Cruises, the award-winning upper-premium cruise line, announced today its first ever Around the World in 180 Days cruise, a star-studded, port-intensive 180-day voyage aboard the 684-guest Insignia, setting sail round-trip from Miami on January 10, 2015.
Attracted by weather cooler than we have in southern California during the summer, my family and I decided to take a seven-day, round-trip Holland America cruise out of Boston, along the New England coast and up to Halifax, Nova Scotia. Before embarking, we spent a few days in Boston visiting some of the many historical sites there.
The lush garden-like islands of Fiji offered me and my family an exotic yet friendly environment to enjoy the beauty of the southern hemisphere tropics and experience native Fijian culture. Upon our 6:00 AM arrival in Nadi, the capitol of Fiji, we were greeted by a friendly Fijian representative of Rosie's Holidays, whom we had used to arrange for our accommodations and transportation to and from the airport.
